Imam Muhammad Madi Abu-El-Azayem

A continuing legacy of knowledge, worship and service.

The Imam Muhammad Madi Abu-El-Azayem Foundation represents another dimension of Prof. Dr. Khaled Abu-El-Azayem’s journey, extending beyond medicine and writing into community service, education and the preservation of a spiritual and intellectual heritage.

THE FOUNDATION

Service given an institutional home

Established in Cairo in 2011, the Foundation was created as a charitable, educational and cultural institution inspired by the legacy of Imam Muhammad Madi Abu-El-Azayem and by a continuing commitment to serving people through knowledge, worship, healthcare and social responsibility.

Its developing complex in New Cairo brings together a grand mosque, an Islamic library, educational and Qur’anic activities, charitable healthcare and wider forms of social support. Together, these initiatives reflect a vision in which spiritual life, knowledge and service remain closely connected.

A FAMILY COMMITMENT ACROSS GENERATIONS

A vision carried forward

The Foundation was originally established through the vision and initiative of Major General Mokhtar Mohammed Madi Abu-El-Azayem, son of Imam Mohammed Madi Abu-El-Azayem and father of Prof. Dr. Khaled Abu-El-Azayem. His vision laid the foundation for a charitable, educational and cultural institution dedicated to carrying this heritage forward through service to the wider community.

Today, Major General Tarek Mokhtar Madi Abu-El-Azayem, the younger brother of Prof. Dr. Khaled Abu-El-Azayem, carries the principal executive responsibility for the Foundation as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and the person overseeing its activities and projects on a day-to-day basis. His role is defined by continuous, direct work—from managing details and following implementation to supervising charitable and construction projects, foremost among them the Grand Mosque project, and following its administrative and financial requirements stage by stage.

Prof. Dr. Khaled Abu-El-Azayem serves as Honorary President, contributing to the Foundation’s intellectual vision and strategic direction while supporting the continuing work led by his brother and the Board of Trustees.
